Teacher Alleges Harassment and Administrative Misconduct at OAV Morada
In a concerning development from Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV), Morada, a senior teacher has raised serious allegations of administrative irregularities, professional harassment, and mental pressure under the current school leadership. The case has now reached the attention of the District Education Officer (DEO), Mayurbhanj, following repeated written complaints and the submission of official documents highlighting the matter.
According to the grievance submitted, the teacher was issued a deputation order to OAV Ranibhol under Letter No. OAVR/1520027/2025/189 dated 11th April 2025. Citing medical unfitness supported by a certified report from CHC Rasgovindpur, the teacher submitted formal applications to the school authority, the Block Education Officer (BEO) Morada, and the Nodal Centre, VMDC both in hard copy and electronic format. Despite this, the teacher alleges being subjected to undue pressure and repeated threats to comply with the deputation.
What has raised eyebrows further is the timeline of the relieving order. Officially issued under Order No. OAVM/338/2025 dated 12th April 2025, it was reportedly handed over to the teacher only on 15th April at 9:00 AM. However, the school principal allegedly began threatening the teacher to join the deputation well before the order was received. The situation is said to be even more alarming considering the ongoing shortage of teaching staff at OAV Morada and the impending PT-1 examinations. The teacher’s sudden relieving is believed to have disrupted academic preparations, negatively impacting students.
The grievance also highlights several instances of alleged administrative misconduct by the principal. These include frequent unofficial absences from the school campus without applying for casual or medical leave, creating a lack of accountability. The teacher further states that school operations are often influenced by favoritism, with certain staff members being allowed to arrive late, leave early, or take leave without documentation, while others face constant scrutiny and harassment.
A particularly concerning allegation involves the unofficial induction of part-time contractual teachers without prior notice to the rest of the staff. On April 4, 2025, contractual teachers were reportedly allowed to rejoin and even attend official meetings before any formal communication was made. Official messages about their joining were only circulated later that evening, allegedly enabling these teachers to claim additional payment for the day unjustly.
The grievance also states that after the government declared summer morning school hours, the teacher was being forced to remain 1–2 hours beyond official time without any academic justification, despite medical issues. This, the teacher claims, is an act of harassment meant to create mental stress.
The matter, backed by a complete dossier of supporting documents including deputation and relieving orders, medical certificates, and prior applications, has been escalated to the DEO, Mayurbhanj, with copies marked to the BEO and the Nodal Centre. The teacher has urged the district administration to look into the issue urgently and ensure protection from further harassment while requesting a transparent and fair work environment at OAV Morada.
This case underscores the growing need for stronger oversight and accountability mechanisms within government-run model schools to ensure both staff welfare and uninterrupted academic functioning.
